To promote cultural appreciation, strengthen unity among students from different backgrounds, and nurture the values of love, kindness, respect and harmony, Port Dickson Chinese Independent High School (CHPD) celebrated Deepavali 2026 on Friday, 6 November 2026, at the CHPD Hall.
The celebration featured a variety of meaningful activities designed to introduce students to the cultural significance and traditions of Deepavali. The programme began with a traditional oil lamp lighting ceremony, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and representing hope, goodness and new beginnings.
This was followed by a video presentation featuring the thoughts and perspectives of CHPD teachers and students on Deepavali. Students also learned about the festival’s origins, traditions and traditional Indian cuisine through an informative presentation. An Indian traditional dance performance further enriched the celebration, allowing everyone to appreciate the beauty and vibrancy of Indian culture.
An interactive quiz session was also conducted to encourage students to explore their knowledge of Deepavali and Indian traditions. Lucky packets were presented to students who answered the questions correctly, adding excitement and fun to the celebration. The programme concluded with a photography session to capture the memorable moments shared by the school community.
CHPD extends its heartfelt appreciation to the English Language Department and the Indian teachers for their dedication, guidance and contributions in preparing the celebration and coaching the students. Their efforts made the programme meaningful and engaging, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.
At CHPD, cultural diversity is celebrated as an opportunity to build understanding and strengthen relationships. Through celebrations like Deepavali, the school hopes to nurture students who appreciate different cultures, respect one another’s differences and embrace the values of love, kindness, respect and harmony.
Together, we celebrate diversity, strengthen unity and build a harmonious school community.
